G23: F23A block (or rotating assembly) with H23A head.

G23VTEC: F23A block (or rotating assembly) with H22A head.

Hydra: D15A3 (86-87 Civic/CRX Si) with D16A1 (86-89 Integra) head. (search redpepperracing.com for more details.)

What is the advantage of using a b16 head on a gsr block instead of the gsr head?

b16 head is supposed to flow a tiny bit better. the cams suck though so its not worth it.

I thought the B16 head had a smaller combustion chamber as well, which would raise your compression a bit. I might b wrong though.

actually it has a larger one and will lower your compression.

And actually its not a true poormans without a minimum of 11.0:1 ratio.

A real poormans R can get expensive.

Don't forget about the poormans K swap which is the H2B.

Plus you can go H22 with the F22 rotating assembly.

Man I love Honda motors. The possibilities are endless.

aka: H23VTEC

F22 crank/rods = H23 crank/rods

LS-V is a b18b block with a VTEC head.
B20 is a 2.0 block with a VTEC head

Nope. B20 is any of the 2L B series blocks in the CRV. B20VTEC or B20V is the B20 block and a DOHC VTEC head.

Well, once we've covered the majority of the topics, isn't that what always happens around here?

Plus I'm an engineer. Precision in specification is important to me on a fundamental level....it leaks out here on HT.

B20 bottom with vtec head can also be called CRVTEC.

poor man's type r can also be LS block with b16 pistons and b16 head and tranny.

Frank/Frankenstein means successfully mating a head onto any block except the one it was supposed to be on. but for d series, they call it mini-me.

Ninja = suzuki vitara pistons in a sohc block

darkside = usually refers to going turbo
