I have a b20 vtec in my 95 hatch, the head is from a CTR and while removing the MSD ignition to return it to stock, i have run into a problem of finding a distributor cap that fits. What I thought was correct: All b/d series distributor's are basically the same, same cap etc

So I bought a b16 cap from honda, i did not fit my distributor.
I went to autozone (honda was closed) and according to their part numbers, all b series have the same part number, except the ITR cap. That is a different part #. Ive never heard of this before.

Does the EK CTR and DC2 ITR share some weird, different cap that fits no other distributor?

If this is infact true, I guess you learn something new everyday.

Anyone ever buy a GSR cap and have it not fit?

i would use the itr cap, obd 0 b series is different from obd1, obd1 gsr and obd2 itr use the same cap

 

obd2 gsr shares the same part number as ITR does according to acuraautomotiveparts.org

 

You can treat pretty much any part from a B16B the same as B18C5, they are exactly the same engine except the rotaing assembly which is destroked to the 1.6L displacement.
Blocks, heads, and electronics are the same!
