Difference between obd 0-1 engine coolant tempature sensor?? b16
Went from a obd 0 block to a obd 1 b16a block.
same wiring harness, crx si with hasport subharness, running pr3 ecu and hondata.
whats the difference between the two sensors? from a 90 b16a block to a 96 block?
wheres each sensor located respectively? thanks!

B16A1 -- sensor located on the block by the oil filter
B16A2 -- sensor located on the thermostat housing
Sensors are the same and do the samething. Plugs are different so you can just run the wires and splice into the new plug.

i appreciate the help, but dont quite understand the simplicty of this.
what EXACTLY do i need to do? splice what color wires from what sensor to what sensor?
thank you much!

Simple. You take the two wires from the ECT on the block (OBD0) and splice it into the ECT sensor that is on the Thermostat housing (OBD1/2). Bam, you are done

is the ect from my crx wiring harness the two progned things that go by the oil filter?
it looks kinda goofy with a black cap on it?
then i just splice those two wires to the ones on my thermostat housing? thanks for the paitence.

Yes, the one that you pryed at and would never come out, yeah that one

Yes, the color of the sensor is like a light brown (most of the time). Splice the wires into the connector and you are done.

well today i took the two wires off of the black boot, from the back of the block and spliced it to the sensor on the thermstat housing STILL A CODE 6!!
i have to go to the track in a few hours but not with this code!!

are you sure the problem doesnt lay elsewhere...
you first need to test your thermo switch with a volt meter to verifiy that it is good
regarldess, code 6 is water temp sensor
not thermo fan switch....
thermo fan switch doesnt throw a code.
look on the side of your head, in between the vtec solenoid and the water neck.
You will see 2 plugs, a 1 wire and a 2 wire. make sure those are properly connected then reset your ecu.
You've been looking at the wrong sensor heh

so the sensor by the vtec solenoid IS THE COOLANT TEMP. what color is the sensor it self? is it green or greyish?
now saying that that is the sensor, what wires go to it? what color wiring? is it red whtie green white ? or is it from the back of the block with the boot thing?

The sensor that changes is the ECT SWITCH. On the obd0 motor the switch is on the back of the block. On the obd1 motor the switch is on the thermostat housing. As was already stated, just cut/splice the different plug style on so you can hook up the wiring to the new sensor.
BOTH the obd0 and obd1 heads have the ECT Sensor on the side of the head (distirbutor side). The plug style is exactly the same, so you won't have to change plugs. The picture that Turbogixxer posted is correct, #1 is your ECT Sensor. Although that pic doesn't look like a b16a head. My pr3 head has the ECT sensor closer to the vtec solenoid.... right under it actually.
