Default difference between auto and manual motors????

I have found an LS motor for sale for pretty cheap. The only problem is that it has an automatic transmission. I was wondering if there is any difference in the actual motor. Does it have different cams, etc... If I use a manual B-series transimssion and a manual ECU would it be the same as having a manual motor?

I searched but didn't have any luck.... thanks

You'll be fine with an automatic LS motor. To my knowledge, the cams are the same for the US nonVTEC motors and only the JDM DOHC VTEC motors use different cams for auto and manual.
I have a 96 B18B1 with 92 YS1 GSR cable tranny in a 91 CRX DX which the longblock was from an auto car. Good thing about an auto motor is that is less likely to have been abused or over revved.

That is correct. We have 2 B18B swaps here at our shop (both are crappy auto setups) and we took apart one of the B18Bs to resleeve (some guy actually needed the auto B-series tranny... go figure) and everything is the same... same head, manifolds, cams, pistons, etc. On auto B16s, the cam profile is weaker and the flow ports on the head (may or may not.... still gotta look into it) are not as good as a 5-spd head. Otherwise, it's just the cams.... same short block.

Automatic LS motors use an EGR valve. And the plumbing is in the intake manifold. I would suggest using a manual transmission intake manifold.

Motors are basically the same, only MAIN differance is the transmission/ECU
