Default clutch question ?

i installed a CM stage 4 clutch on a b20z motor, with a gsr tranny. i got the flywheel resurfaced, installed new throw out bearing, and new pilot bearing. it engages great through all the gears, but it kind of shakes the front end, when you start off in first, or in reverse. does anyone know what this might be? is it possibe to install the clutch disc backwards? please help

Stage 4 is a non-sprung hub, right? You know, solid disc, no springs?

If so, the the clutch will chatter and shake the front end because it doesn't have the springs to help smooth out the engagement and disengagement of the clutch. Get used to it, because it won't get better.

Also, try not to end up next to a cop at a redlight because it might be hard not to bark the tires as you ease off the clutch

Okay, well even a 4 puck with springs will have a on-off type feel to it. Even the six puck sprung hub clutch in my car has a bit of a on-off feel to it.

I was thinking about getting the stage 4 for my b20. Will it ease up after it breaks in or will there always be the on/off?

I believe that's typical for a Stage 4. My stage 3 is pretty jerky too.

I have a clutchnet 6 puc with the extreme pp and I sometimes get clutch chatter when I reverse. I gotta throw the revs up and really slip the clutch to avoid the chatter. At first it seemed like on/off, but after 1000mi I can drive it like stock. You'll get used to it.

i just realized that it does not have a front tranny mount. do you all think this could be the culprit to the shaking problem?
