it's cheap insurance. and you'll be able to take it a little bit higher.. if you can tune the cams to make power up there. my ctr's cut off at 8250 .. i assume its because of my cam timing... either way. i got them... thepartstrader.com has them for cheap as hell all the time. and you'll have peace of mind.

its a good idea to do that... I know they arent toda, but toda recommends you do that when you change your cams.

Heh.. I have Toda B cams here (somebody please buy them.... they're collecting dust) and by looking at them compared to some 2001 ITR cams, they look more aggressive to the naked eye.

When putting Type R cams into your stock B16 head, you don't have to change anything out, but don't be revving it over 8000 rpms over long periods of time or eventually you'll float your valves or your old LMAs will fail. That's why when you see people with "large race" cams (like Toda B, Crower, or JUN 3 cams), in a stock B16 head, they sometimes break because the LMAs failed and put all of the stress on the cams, causing them to break in the head. If you plan to drive conservatively, then you don't need to upgrade the valve train on your B16 head with Type R cams. If you plan to race it hard and take it up high in the RPM range, then you're going to want to upgrade all of that.

Type R cams don't even make that much power past 8000rpm. There is no need to rev your motor that high.

I have brand new CTR cams in my B16A with full upgraded Type R valvetrain minus the Type R LMA's which I might do soon and they make power all the way up to 8600 RPM.

I didn't say that didn't make any power they dont make too much up top. If you don't have the money to invest in valve springs and retainers then 8000rpm will be enough to feel the power.
