b20z2 or b18b??
Okay so I have a '95 DX hatch and I plan on doing a swap soon. Right now I just have a stock d15 non vtec, but sitting on the side i have a b20z2. I've heard that the b20's and thinner cylinder walls and can't stand high RPM's and I want to do an all motor build non vtec. I was wondering if I should just go with a b18 or the b20??? help please. thanks.
Why, please tell me why you need high rpm?? It won't give more power on either of those engines. The B20Z does NOT have thinner walls, and it is a very good engine, and makes a good chunk more power on the street!
I know higher RPM's doesnt give me more power, but it makes my power last a little longer in my opinion. So you're saying that the b18 and b20 are just about the same??
Sorry, but power for longer? The B20Z makes power a LOT earlier, and continues right to redline at 6700rpm.....i would hardly call it a smaller power band. So what if you shift earlier, the power is waiting for you again in the next gear up
and no, the B18 is a fair bit weaker than the b20

Now it makes sense! b20 has more torque. Now I get why it has lower RPM's. So to go back to the cylinder walls.. I've heard from a hand full of people that the b20 has thin cylinder walls, you seem pretty experienced so I just want to know your info about.
Who ever told you the wall were tinner, has no idea what they are talking about
The walls are simply mounted differently, but are NOT thinner...you must educate those talkers, lolhere's a pic of a B20Z shortblock
