I have done a search and cant find the answer to my question. I am trying to find out how hard it is to do the actual swap. My plan is to put a B20Z into my 92 CX. Just a stock B20Z, nothing too serious. Daily Driver material. My CX used to have a B16 and was stripped by thieves so I need a new motor. How hard? Any snags you guys have run into? Let me know how difficult it was please. Thanks in advance.

Very easy as far as the swap goes, there is nothing special at all about it

Did the thieves take just your motor or the whole swap? If just the motor then its just a matter of installing the b20 and wiring it up.

If you install the b16 yourself, the b20 should be easy becauase all b series are similar.

They took my motor but left the half shafts and didnt mess with anything else I belive.
I had a shop install the B16, this is my first try at intalling a motor myself.

The mechanics of the swap are tedious like any swap but easy. The wiring on the other hand is a bitch.

It is a very easy and straight forward swap. The only wiring you will need to do is to convert to a 4 wire O2. This might already be done on the cabin side since you had a B16 in there, but depends on how it was wired it up.
You'll need a B series hydro tranny, LS intake manifold (94-95 LS), and an OBD1 LS ECU to run the motor. You said that the axles were left, so you could reuse those by getting the proper intermediate shaft.

Check signiture for my intermediate shaft for sale, its packed up and ready to go. I was going to install a b20/vtec into my 94 dx and I bought my intermediate shaft then. Now with my Type R swap installed I have an extra one lying around.
Do I have to use a 94-2000 LS intake manifold or can it be from an older LS? I compared pictures and they are pretty much the same except for small differences. Can I use an older one? Its all LS and I dont think they chanteg it much.

yes you can. The obd1 just a better flow though.

Just for reference but the LS and CRV heads are the same. Buy a long block and the swap will be a breeze.
