B18Cr with constrictive intake??
hey guys - just wanted to post a quick question. i swapped out my D16A6 for a nice 97 J-spec B18Cr a few months ago. due to financial constraints, i just threw the AEM CAI from the D-series motor on the new mill. its about 1/4" less in diameter than the throttle body.
would this constriction be causing much of a problem in the power department? the car feels hella fast, and im not complaining. but i'd also like my motor to perform at its full potential. *Edit* dont tell me im a dumbass. i KNOW its causing a restriction, and any restriction = loss of power. but put your estimate in terms of tenths in the quarter mile, or in HP figures
(car runs 14.3 @ 97 now)
also - what intake would you guys recommend for my setup? its a 4th gen civic SI with a B18Cr motor (stock motor).

thanks

it's fine for now considering you still have the battery in the front. Move that bad boy to the back and you'll have more options.
yeah, moving the batt would make life a little easier. i was thinking about a j's racing intake... i've seen a lot of swapped ED's with them - but i think they are pretty ugly. do they offer good power gains? (well, as far as intakes go
)
in other words, im only going to put a part on the car if it offers the most performance.

I think that I'd stay with what you have (or get the AEM cold air unit).
The reason is that as far as I know, the AEM should have a CARB number on it. To be technically correct, it's not really legal for the engine you have, but may get you out of a ticket.
