Default B18C5 in 96 EK prep

I am waiting on my 96 EK coupe to turn over 100K before I toss it, and I want to start buying stuff now that I might need to do the B18C5 swap, so when it goes in there are no problems. Little stuff like motor mounts, hoses, etc. I already have a fluidyne radiator, but that's it. I want factory reliability. Your suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend you use the factory harness for ease of wiring.

Other than that. Good luck.

When you say factory harness, you mean on my EK right? Just checking. And also how easy is it to wire it up, example: what would I need to add, omit? I have zero experience with wiring and I want the easiest set up. Thanks

Ya, the factory EK harness.

You will just need to put the harness onto the B18C5, depending on which model EK you have, will determine what wiring you will need to do.

You will most definitely need to wire up Knock sensor, possibly VTEC (if you have an EX/VX/HX), and such.

Then you're done. I would also recommend you get an OBD2a->OBD2b jumper harness so you can run the factory P73 ITR ECU.

HTH.

I have a 96 EX so yes I have VTEC already. Do you know where I could get this jumper you speak of. What the difference between these two OBD systems? Thank you.

Here is the difference between the two.

I may also be doing this swap into my '96 EX.

What motor mounts are needed? I've heard a mix between the stock d-series mounts and the b-series mounts, but what configuration?

Also, would that jumper be the only thing need for the ITR swap besides the knock sensor?

You will need a 99 si rear mount, 99 si driver side mount that goes into the block under cam sprockets. P54 ac bracket if you wanna keep ac or any bseries if not. You will need the lower tranny mount for the tranny your using. All else are stock.
