b18c1 into EG help...?
okay i wrecked my gsr, and looking for a civic
but right now, i have my engine in my garage, the axles are still connected and the front suspension and brakes as well. hahaha took 6 people to lift it off my truck!
my question is, can i just remove the front suspension of the EG and just bolt up mines w/o removing the axles; the front sway bar and steering thing is still there. Or is it easier to d/c everything and bolt it up individually.
i have the rear suspension too and brakes, i know its easier just to remove everything in the rear and bolt it up.
how about the front?
what about the power steeering. i removed it from my gsr would it affect anything on a non p/s civic?

I just did that swap. You can bolt the whole sub-frame up to the civic. If you want to retain the acura power steering you are going to have use the acura steering column because the civic unit will not bolt up to the integra power steering rack. Other than that the whole suspension and sub-frame goes right in bolt for bolt.
I did the same as well...'94 GSR sub-frame, suspension, and brakes into a '92 Si H/B. Everything lines up perfect except:
-GSR coolant hoses are a little big. You can clamp them tight, but they'll leak. You might want to consider another radiator or make some sort of fitting to reduce the size of them.
-Civic heater hoses hooked up to the GSR motor will cause a kink in one of the hoses which will not allow coolant to flow in (or out) of the heater core. So, your heat won't work great. Just go buy some heater hose and make your own.
-The Civic steering column will work with the GSR rack...just get the U joint from the Integra and install it into the Civic. You know what I mean?...the U joint connects the steering rack to the steering column under the dash.
-You'll need to run 2 wires to the ECU...1 for a knock sensor, 1 for the IAB valve.
-I cut my shift linkage short a few millimeters 'cause being a little too long made my shifter point forward a little. But, don't cut yours...wait 'till the swap is done and you drive it for a few days to see if yours has that problem.
-The GSR steering rack has an additional small line comming from the rack going to the fluid resevoir. I just blocked the line (cause I didn't have anything to connect it to) with a small bolt and hose clamp. Haven't had a single problem yet. (2 years)
-Install ES motor mount inserts BEFORE you raise the assembly into the Civic. It'll make the job much easier...and they work great. Plus, the chicks dig the vviibbbrraaatttiiooonnnsss....
Email me with any questions or pics 'cause I don't brouse this board often...
Good Luck man...
'Bout the easiest swap you'll ever do!!

thats pretty cool, i plan to run no a/c and no p/s
those pieces are really heavy, i also took off the bracket which
holds it to the block, man thats heavy too!
when i find a civic i'll ask more
thanks guys, just asking earlier so i can search my topics for help.

I did the same swap into my 95 coupe.I used the Integra radiator because the Civic one is waaaaay too small. You just have to relocate the lower radiator mount brackets, and customize the top brackets. It's well worth the extra work and the Integra hoses fit perfectly.
By the way, if you take off the a/c compressor mount bracket, where are you going to bolt the lower left engine mount?

my a/c bracket was on the bottom right
how is yours on the left?
i thought there was only 3 mounts - tranny, right engine, rear?
is there more?

I don't think you guys are looking at the motor the same.
Right hand side if your sitting front of the motor, looking at the exhaust ports.
Left hand side if your sitting in the driver's seat.
I'm curious too, you need the A/C bracket for the driver's side lower torque mount.
Better do a little more research on that...
