Default B17A questions

Does the B17 have the same block as the B16A? What is the rod stroke ratio like on a B17 as compared to a B16?

b16a has a 396.78 deck height w/1.74r/r, b17a has 419.45 deck height w/1.68r/r, the b18c1 has 449.34 deck height w/1.58r/r.
i hope this helps you on your quest..

B16A & B17A share the same block shell..which means it has the same deck height. The only main differnce between the 2 engines are mainly the crank, rods, pistons, and actual block stamp ID.

B16A's have a so-called perfect rod ratio. A B17A isn't far off from that 'perfect rod ratio' of a B16A.

B16A= 1.74 RR
B17A= 1.62 RR

how is it possible that the b17a has a rod ratio 168 if the rod length of 5.208"( 29.92mm) is divided by the stroke of 3.204"(81.4mm). correct me if i'm wrong.
i know honda isn't wrong, it's only what you think is right. are you just memorizing what you read and learning to be great magazine mechanic?

...just a tidbit of info. There are some typos' in the HONDA service manuals.

For instance, if you look in a 97 or 98 US ITR service manual - it says that the US ITR has a compression ratio of 10.1 which is wrong...its 10.6. Take a look, you'll be amazed!
