Default B16 swap

I'm looking for the easiest b16 swap into my 97' hatch. I would prefer to do the swap myself to save money unless anyone knows any good shops in the atlanta area. I've found the package at jdmcustoms for $2300. Also if anyone can find a better place to get one let me know. I've been told the swap is pretty direct and easy. Please share details.

thats a good price on a swap, make sure it's obdII, that's going to be the easiest swap for you.
obd0 = pita

Obd I = wiring conversion

obd2 = plug and play

Yeah that's all I really wanted. More than 150 horsepower motor and a really easy swap. What all will I need along with the swap? ie: axles, shiftlinkage? can I use the linkage I have? I think the package is pretty complete.

id get new timing belt, water pump, acc. belts and tune up. New hoses and thermostat wouldn't hurt either. You will need the dohc shifter linkage and axles. Oh and make sure it comes with the ecu. You'll have to modd the exhaust to make it fit properly and if your getting a jdm engine you'll need to use your stock d-series wiring harness on the b- series engine and extend a few plugs as neccessary. Make sure you have all your needed mounts and mounting brackets aswell as dampners and verify they are all in good shape. Don't re-use dry rotted or cracked rubber pieces. You will also need to get new vtec water hoses.

Thanks for all the useful info. I now know to do all the "hard t do unless engine is out of car" labor while I've got the engine out. I know more than most about engines, but I'm no guru, how can I do this swap myself and how hard will it be? how much time am I looking at?

my first swap took about a week of working on it after work and on the weekends. I'd say 14-18 hours. Now i can pull and engine and tranny in 4 hours easy from the time i pull into the yard to jack her up to the time i have her on the ground. I'd definatly install the timing belt before you install the swap and set the valve lash. My back always kills me for days when i set the valve lash in the car. Do this with the plugs out. It's realitively easy work. the hardes part I found is putting the tranny on the engine (if your installing a new clutch/pressure plate & t.b which i highly recomend) this is made much easier when you have an extra lower back. I'd say your looking at a min. of 10 hours for your first time. Have an impact gun on hand and a breaker bar. An extra hydo. jack is handy too. If possible break the cv axle nuts before you remove the tire and go ahead and start soaking those header to cat bolts with some liquid wrench. Installing the engine without a helping hand can be hard cause it never seems to want to go in streight. I remove the dizzy on an install just to prevent any damage with the chains. I always start with installing the back mount bolt first then drob the car down a bit to install the top mounts followed by the dampners. Make sure your shifter linkage fits smoothly onto your tranny before you put it in the car because it a pita to fight with it on your back. I hope this helps out a bit just hit me up if you have any more ????s. I also put a bit of gasket sealer on all the goose necks that any of the water hoses go to to prevent any leaks

you dont really need anyone else, it's just easier with an extra set of hands. I'd definatly invest in a helms if it's your first swap. They walk you through fairly well

I've been all over the helms inc. website and have no idea which manual I need to buy for the swap. I pull up civic and 1000 manuals pop up and I get confused.

for the car it's self you'll need the manual that covers the 97 hatch and for the engine you'll need a manual for the donor car
