I think you should keep the y8 and boost that. Oh and you do have VTEC. It might not be as much of a "kick in the pants" as a DOHC, but you do have it. But do what you want.

Personally, I would take the torque of an LS over the VTEC of a b16.

Having had both at one point in my last car, I was personally much happier with the B16.

ive had this debate last year before i went with my b16.

you will hear this alot:

"LS turbo and torque, B16a N/A and VTEC, LS/VTEC and you have both!"

I personally like the VTEC on my b16. I love my B16a.

In the end, your choice...depends on what you want to do with your car.

if you ask hybrid_vtec, he'll say ls. check out his thread dyno'd ls all motor with good numbers. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1124823

as well as dyno comparisons for b16 vs ls

why don't you just go b18b all motor?! The thing i don't like about b16's is that under 4000rpms they feel like a d16y8..you can feel the b18b more that your can the b16 in lower rpms. (better daily) If you want a car quicker at like short distances (1/4) b18b would be better. B16's are nice at tracks though, and freeways.. all depends in what you want.

Like all engines and drivers...You can get a slow one or a fast one.
Remember b16A don't like weight. Thats why I'm still in the 14's lol. If I only had a CX...B18a/b you'll get more off the line and under 5000 rpm passing power. But with a b16a (ctr cams or at least not 1st gen cams), look out when vtec hits heheh . You'll be happy

having also had both.....i would go with an LS engine with b16 tranny.....

that will net you 9.1 1/8 mile times.....in a civic hatch....that's good enough to **** rustang and cAmEmeros off

I would boost the d16, but if you going to swap defintely go with the b16. Why you might ask? It has a much better head and better tranny, then you can just find yourself an LS block or even better a B18c1/5 block for a little more torque.

LS will smoke a B16 on the 1/4 stock for stock anyday...so if you're looking to do some street racing or drag at the strip, get the LS and build it for LS VTEC later on.

I've seen kids with B16's around here the will never run against a swapped LS. Too much torque for a 1.6 to handle. We've discussed this topic alot and even took it out on the streets and drag. LS woops

Wrong. I think you meant to say a B16 will smoke an LS anyday. A stock LS ******* blows *** lol.

Depends on how much you want to spend. If you can just get the GSR to start with. If not go with a B16 and then throw an LS or b18c1/5 block under it.

Remember the car is a pig. Read my signiture for weight. The car decent enough. With the stock ecu/oem muffler/dirty air filter plus 100 extra pounds it runs 14.7's-14.9's. I'm happy with that. The oem muffler is killing the top end. But take off the weight and muffler it should run an easy 14.5's. Alittle more work it will run 14.3's but I'm lazy lol.

Should I laugh or cry from laughing so much...Read my signiture..At the very bottom...lol...It's only a 1.6L (the little engine that could) heheh
