Hi, I'm new to HT. I've owned a 98 Honda DX 2DR for two years now... I'm wanting to swap out my SOHC non vtech for a SOHC vtech. my problems are that ive had multiple problems trying to the right engine code for a 98 EX Civic engine. ive seen D16Z6's and D16Y7's im a little lost cuz both are from two different books. I would like some light shed on this subject, because i need to order the right exhaust and turbo for this conversion. Thanx to all responders.

The motor you are looking for is the D16Y8.

Just FYI, it's VTEC, and it'll be a simple bolt in swap. The only thing you will need to do is wire up VTEC.

There are many threads as far as wiring that up though. I would just search around.

 

^ is right..the engine you need is a D16y8. Can find them for about 500-750 low miles...youre gonna need to buy a wiring harness with a pigtail and rewire dx to ex. Good luck.

Why not just put in a B16??
