My little brother just got an '85 Civic for free for his first car. Its carbureted with a five speed and a dead motor. Are there any alternative (bigger) engines that he can swap in whether they are carbureted or injected? Most of my experience is with American pony cars so i don't know much about what works and what doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

how much money are you looking to put into the swap?

 

I don't hink he has much more than a g note or two. Plus he has a year and a half before he can drive on his own.
