Car has an ap1 trans and ap2 engine.

would 4.77 be too aggressive since it is an ap2 engine but with ap1 trans?

since 4.77 can be found on ebay for 150 bucks?

I think a 4.44 is perfect...4.77 just a bit too high IMO, especially if the car is going to be daily driven

 

In my opinion s2000 gears are already crazy short. 4.7 final drive is crazy for a street car. Your talking about over 5,000 rpm just crusing on the freeway in 6th gear.

Honestly I dont care about cruising or anything like that just want to go faster.

Any other opinions if it will make me faster or just be too aggressive to the point where im throwing too many gears?

Or does it hurt me because ap2 redline is 8000?

 

Why exactly are you wanting to go faster?

Drag racing? Track Racing? Running from the cops? E-Racing?

 

If your goal is to make your s2000 accelerate faster then anything that does not involve some kind of forced induction is a complete waste of time, money and heartache.

 

Some will flame this response but a properly executed nitrous setup might be your best option(including supporting mods, engine management, and a proper tune).

 

This simply isn't true. Go check youtube, there are plenty of comparison videos. If you aren't worried about spinning 4k rpm's+ at 65-70 mph then go with the 4.77's as they should give you better acceleration. After about 80 mph's or so, the gearing won't make as much of a difference. Good luck man.

 

Drive a few of each and see which one you like better. I liked the AP1 better. Some like the AP2 better.

I don't think you read the question, this isn't another AP1 vs. AP2 thread, he is asking about final drive ratio's.

 

S2000 already has short gears, youre on the highway cruising around 5,000 RPM.
