Default Steering control module

Anyone have experience putting a used steering control module on a 2006 S2000? Are used ones programmable to a different vehicle? My Honda tech is concerned a used one will not be programmable and may cause other computer disfunction. New ones are available but $1800.

We replaced one for a customer at my dealership, don't think it needed programmed but can't quite remember. But definitely used is okay

There's no reason it should matter.

It's not part of the ignition system, security, or really the ECU. It's also not a BMW.

Plug and play from the same generation. However there is a torque sensor calibration.

To answer my own question, I replaced the part with a used one from a 2005 purchased on E-Bay, (carefully matching part number) and was successful. And yes, only “programming” was torque sensor as described in service manual. I don’t thing the whole torques sensor program went completely through, but all works fine anyway.
