I only just drove my first one today and yeah, no need to ever get a short shifter.

If you've driven so many...im curious why you'd want a short shifter? I guess to me it just seems funny, given how short the shifter already is...lol, wtf do you want? Mind shifting? lol...

C's makes a short shifter. They are a Japanese company. They are around $250 and can sometimes be found on Ebay. They are, however, made for RHD and need to be slightly modified for LHD cars (this involves heating the shifter with a torch and bending it slightly.).
If you must have a shorter throw, try removing the stock **** and then removing the nut underneath it. Then re-install your stock shift ****. It will sit a little lower and give you a shorter throw. Even better than this is doing this same thing but with a shorter aftermarket shift ****.
With all this being said, I pretty much agree with everyone else. I don't really think a short throw shifter is really neccessary. I've got a Spoon titanium **** and left the stock nut off when I installed it, and it seemed to sit about 3/4 inch lower and that's fine by me. It's the shortest throw I could ever want or need.

I posted before that some other new company was working on one, but the thread got locked. I think it was the same company making the axial flow s/c, but not positive.
Try a countersunk **** before you go get the c's shifter.
