ive known more s2k owners to go to e36 m3s to be completely honest. i almost did.
the S is more of a driver oriented car, a better track star, and great on the highway. the m3 definately has a leg up in luxury, room, and torque. the s2k has that panty dropper factor tho...

had a friend with an e36, beautiful car, and had plenty of dinan(sp?) stuff on it. he drove my S and was amazed by the handleing and the high powerband. in a straight run(roll), cars werent too far apart either. i've thought about trading in the s2k for an e46.

If it will be your only car, stick with the M3.

If you do get an S, there are two things you will miss:

1) Torque
2) Space

i've got a friend that would want an s2k over his e36m3. they're two different cars. If you can live with the limitations of the s2k, most poeple will agree it's more pleasurable driving experience when comparing stock vs stock.

U dont down grade from the M3 to an s2k........sorry.

EDIT* I just carefully read it was an e36, unless its a Eudm car, and not the Usdm version, i wouldnt jump into the s2k. But if its a usdm version e36, do it. Those suck ****

it all depends on how you see it... my last car before the s has alot more torque and space. i don't miss it one bit(well, maybe the torque but not the space) to futher demostrate my point, i gotten myself a even smaller car

if you have the older m3 then i would def. get the S

Also keep in mind that a S2000 is gona last longer then an M3 and will be more reliable and cheaper to fix if it breaks down. My dad had a 2004 325 and he was always at the dealr for some stupid ****. It was all good cause it was under waranty, but after that, thry bend you over and expletive you in the ***.
