so i'm trying to put the engine back together so i can drop it back into the car, but i can't figure out where this bracket goes. the car is a 97 Prelude. can you guys help me out?

how big is it? I cant really get an idea of how big it is to even begin to think where it goes.

 

about 5inch long and takes 17 or 19mm bolts

 

man step back from the object when you take the picture. It really is hard to tell what it is even with the 2nd picture up. When i first saw it i was thinking something for balancer shafts but there is nothing for the balancer shafts that takes that big of a socket....speaking of which, 19/17mm bolts or sockets? big difference there.

 

sockets. im thinking its somewhere by the tranny.

 

the top of it looks like it is concave to hold a hose/line or something. I have taken my engine out, apart and removed the transmission and i dont have any recollection of that piece.

 

the only 17 i recall is suspension or motor mounts when removing the motor. are you sure it is a 17?

 

well i ended up considering that bracket a total loss and threw the engine in the car. i mean all it looks like it does is hold a couple wires/hoses. i should be fine. i looked through the honda prelude parts catalog and couldn't find anything that looked like the bracket. it probably came from my girlfriend's old integra.

 

i just did a tranny swapon a 97 prelude last week an tht bracket is no where to be found. ive torn through he motor severaal times replacing this and tht and have never seen. if it was important you would have found out by now. so dont worry abou tit.

 

Looks like a mounting bracket for bicycle brakes.

 

I don't think that goes anywhere in the engine bay, you sure you didn't some how pick that up around the garage thinking it was part of your car? lol.

 

i don't ever remember running into bracket that looks like that when i did my engine swap. unless it's something for the auto tranny i don't think that goes into prelude.
