I have a '98 Prelude base with a 5spd. There is this weird scraping noise that I am hearing from the engine compartment between 1,000 and 2,000rpms. (Oh, it seems to happen when the engine is under load. ie: going a slow speed in a high gear)I kinda sounds similar to a backing plate rubbing the rotor(but it's not). I also know that it is not the timing belt tensioner.

ANy ideas?

No, Sounds like it is coming from the motor, and it's a scraping, not a rattling.

 

tranny low on fluid cuz mine made that noise when i was low
