Default VAFC question

yeah I know..."you need hondata" or whatever, and agreed but the VAFC came in the car....

question, the previous owner just had it double sided sticky taped below the headunit (over the "storage" pocket) and I'm after a cleaner/stealthier install...guessing if I disconnect/reconnect I'll lose all saved information? correct? and I dont wanna do that cuz it has been dyno tuned and all.

thanks in advance,
K

ya, i'm trying to avoid that...thinkin' I'll just dremel a hole big enough in the back of that pocket to slide it through...and then inlay it with aluminum or something.

Agreed, you won't lose the settings. Disconnect the battery first, and then you should be good to go.

but didnt wanna dig for the connector (or cut the wires). there was already a hole in the back of the pocket so I enlarged it a little (more like a slit) and took out the motherboard inside the VAFC that the wires were attached to and slid it throught the hole, everthing seems to still be intact, thanks guys

did you want to put it in the glove box?

cause thats what i did in my 4th gen

its really easy, just remove the glovebox

dremel the top to make room (if you have a SRS unit, DO NOT TOUCH IT)

then i could close/open the glove box with my SAFC (same thing as VAFC for h23s)

then i tried to inset the SAFC inside the door of the glove box but the door is corrugated metal and really hard to dremel so i didn't and just taped on the safc.

you wont lose any of the settings. Only way to do that is to manually reset it.

Mine is obvious, but very negoitable to read and change. I drilled into the bezel above the gauges on my 4th gen and tapped the screws into it and my V-AFC is hanging right between my speedo and my fuel gauge. Lemme find a pic...

There ya go...

the VAFC has the ability to keep its memory even after disconnecting the battery

So if you ever needed to change the battery or disconnect the VAFC, it would still retain its settings

so you need hondata in conjunction with the vafc? I thought the vafc was a "standalone" unit.

you dont need a vafc with hondata, some people like having it to check over the sensors and the other readouts it gives.
