transmission fluid recommendation and problem...

how many qts needed to replace tranny fluid in a 5th gen prelude?

and also what do you guys recommend?? synchromax? gm syncromesh?

i have no idea which one to get... Just to let you guys know, i am currenly haveing problems shifting at higher RPM's, but only in 3rd gear....what could be causing this?

thanks guys..i wanted to ask you guys for whoevers experienced these problems...

Worn syncros. Problem is only going to get worse. I would suggest babying the tranny until you come up with enough $ to replace or rebuild. As for how many quarts exactly does the tranny take?? I would like to know myself. I hear it's 2.5 but wanna be sure just like the next guy.

the tranny takes 2 quarts and i recommend GM or penzoil synchromesh ( its the same stuff). I had a slight 2nd gear grind in the higher rpms and i haven't had any problems since the synchromesh.

You can buy it at your local GM dealer's parts dept.

I personally have never tried either, but there is a great deal of info in the archives on synchromesh.

search synchromesh, in the archives, on all forums.
