Default Sunroof conversion

I have a 92 prelude si....has the metal sunroof when i would prefer the glass sunroof with the sliding moonroof panel. and i kno that the 97 n up preludes come with the glass sunroof but by any chance do the 92-96 accord sunroof bolt right up or even the 97 n up accord?

i don't know about the 97 and up accord's but the bb6 prelude glass sun roof works with a little modficiations to the bump stops on the glass sunroof. Your best bet would be to go to a junk yard and find a 97+ prelude with a good glass roof. Theres a write up on here if you search or look in the fac's section.

I'm looking for that, too. Tired of the rust, haha.

Either that or I'm looking to contact a custom carbon fiber shop, give them the dimensions of the fourth gen sunroof, and get a group buy going on here for carbon fiber sunroofs. The only drawback is it would probably be expensive. I haven't even contacted anywhere yet, but I've been tossing the idea around. This would be ideal, at least for me. Any thoughts?

No need to do a group buy, I know i've seen someone producing them.

*edit* http://www.lighterfaster.com/index2.html there you are. It says it's for the fifth gen, but it's the same size. (ignore the silly sounds on that site)

And as for the sunroof, the 5th gen glass will fit just fine as far as the dimensions go, but as was previously stated you will have to fiddle with the height a bit. It's extremely easy. I have one on my car and it took no time at all.

I looked on that site and it appears they make one for 92-96 as well, on the page that lists the prices. However, that's not specifically what I'm looking for. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a sunroof plug and not a replacement sunroof which means it won't retain it's ability to open. I love the sunroof, and I don't want to lose it...so I want a carbon fiber replacement rather than a plug.

However, if a fifth gen surfaces in my local junkyard (they rarely do, but if) I'm grabbing the glass moonroof.

Or you can always look for someone who is parting out their 5th gen on craigslist...

I am a satisfied owner of one...

You really will not be shedding that much weight by putting a moveable CF plug in, because the VAST Majority of the weight is the assembly, not the sunroof itself. The plugs that you find are designed to allow you to remove your entire sunroof assemply, saving a BUNCH of weight, and plug the whole with CF. I don't think there are any out there designed to attach to your moving parts.

The slider panel won't fit in the fourth :-(. I'm probably going to get a fifth gen moon roof when the opportunity presents itself and give it a nice 5% tint to keep the sun out when I don't want it.

I remember seeing a write-up somewhere that actually used the slider in a 4th gen. I can't remember for the life of me where i saw it. But as for the $100 price, that's very good in my opinion. The only one i could find when i was buying mine was an entire assembly and i payed $200 for it, so i think $100 is a great price.

i'll take a pic of mine when i get up and post it up...the only two modification you have to do is grind down the bump stops and take a 1/4 off the rubber gasket around the bb6 moon roof.

I'm guessn the 5th gen roof doesn't land flush and u cut the gasket to get it flush with the roof. Well I guess ill email the guy back and see if I cn take a look at it.

I didn't even have to cut or grind anything. All i did was space the front three mounting holes of the Sunroof assembly with some washers until it sat flush. SUPER easy.

So in other words it's not practical for a DD lude.

what exactly does this mean? do you need to remove the headliner?

anyone know how to shim the assembly?

I searched and all i see people saying shim this shim that blah. No one is actually explaining anything.
