1992 prelude...replaced the alt. and power steering belts, have also adjusted them and adjusted them and cleaned the pulleys and im still getting a horrible squealing noise, it is basically consistent but gets louder and once in a while goes away for a minute....suggestions on what it could be?....

were you getting the squeal before you did the work? maybe the belts are too tight or loose, or if it was already happening before, maybe a bad power steering pump
hey thanks for the ideas....it actually turns out there was a few problems (just for anyone else who may be trouble-shooting this) the bearings in my alternator were shot I had my alt. rebuilt... I took my belts off and spun the wheel on my alt. was making a squeaky rusty sound when I turned the pulley by hand. so after I fixed that it was okay for a minute...then it started again but less of a squeak. watching my belts and pulleys I noticed after a lot of reving that the harmonic balancer was moving (it was broken) so I replaced that and problem solved. also to check the power steering pump just to make sure it wasn't slacking I took the belt off and ran it (if it had been the pump it wouldn't squeak if it wasn't hooked up right?)
