once i shift into second, sometimes it seems like it doesnt wanna pull as much as it can (or should).. like, it feels like it sputters for a second, than it will accelerate normally.. only happens at low rpm's in 2nd. every other gear seems to be fine.. any idea what it may be? thanx..

well do you feel anything weird? (ie. grinding, hesitating..etc.) or hear any odd noises? More info would help an answer come about. g/l

no, no grinding, but i do feel some hesistation.. once i pop it into second. it will go, than seems like there is some hesistation, than it will accelerate fine around i want to say 3000 and up..

 

Is it throwing any codes? It might be the knock-sensor.

 

I've noticed the same thing, and its only in 2nd gear. It will hesitate for a moment and then accelerate like any other gear.

 

I feel your pain my car is hesitating all the time and making popping sounds in between the hesitating. I'm getting it looked at tomorrow, I'm hoping my timing belt just got thrown off the teeth and my timing is off.

 

LOL, there are posts every week about another victim of the Prelude hesitation. When will it ever be solved.....

I have brand new plugs and wires. Yet mine doesn't make a "poping" sound

 

lol, good; it makes me feel better im not the only prelude that this has happened to.. i think its time though to change spark plugs and wires.. mine doesnt make a popping sound either, just the hesistation..

well it happens once in a while... kinda feels like u dumped the clutch, but in second gear right?? well i don't know or haven't figured out what it is... but i don't like that feeling.... maybe one of the tech guys here who knows a lot about preludes could answer this...

 

i'm trying to work on this myself lol. Even in 4th or 5th normal driving.. around 2000-2500 rpm's I use to be able to give it some gas and speed up... anymore it hesitates, sometimes in 1st and 2nd also. I'm narrowing it down! I misfired the other night and had a puff of white smoke out the back. My guess is: Plugs (is the tip for the bosche platnium *in* the ceramic and not sticking out??), wires (got new NGK's and it seemed to help for a little), Distributor.. if all that fails, fuel filter, injectors, fuel pump. 98,000 so I'm figuring it could be any one of those... anything I missed?
