If you have stock internals and valvetrain... 8500 is the highest you ever want to go. Anything higher than that and you are looking for problems.

only cars with upgraded valvesprings and valvetrain should be reving that high. plus you need a reason to be reving to 10,000, i.e. cams with a powerband that high.

I did 10k daily in a stock Civic with CRX Si engine... it last about a week before valve float occured and the engine took a dump. I was hoping to blow it in a day, but was surprised it lasted the full week. Your valve keepers will fall off on a stock valvetrain if you rev that high, so don't do it unless you're blowing it on purpose.

So you upgrade you valveterain and throw in a set of cams for that RPM band. Then what? Do you guys seriously think an OEM H22 block can handle 10k rpm's?

Thats even pushing it. There's just no reason to rev that high. You stopped making power almost 1500rpm before.

Even if you built a motor that could handle 10k rpm, good luck shifting gears at 10k with an H series trans.

Truth be told, this is really a Ricey Question considering the amount of info in the FAQs.
