Radiator
I have recently purchased a Koyo OEM replacement radiator for my 1998 Base Prelude. Tonight upon installation I noticed a difference between my OEM radiator and the Koyo. The Koyo radiator has these 2 metal pipes at the bottom while my OEM radiator does not have these.
When I was removing my radiator and going through the Helms manual I remember reading something about these pipes but when I was removing my radiator I didn't see anything so I assumed the instructions I was reading might have been from the SH model.
Is this radiator for the SH Prelude? Would I be able to use this or I'm out of luck?
Thanks.

Those two STUBS not (pipes) hold the radiator to the bottom. Since Koyo does a lot of aftermarket and Universal fitment, that radiator is designed to fit 5th and 4th gen i assume.
Most hondas, iE: RSX, CIVICS, integras, (prelude), have 2 thick rubber rings that sit on the bottom of the radiator support and the "Pipes" or Stubs goes inside.
STUBS: holds in place and radiator doesn't fall off.

I think you have mis understood my question. I know what the two stubs at the bottom are for and I already removed the little plastic cushions from my stock radiator and put them on the stubs at the bottom of the koyo for the placement.
My question is regarding the golden colored pipes. Maybe if I take better pictures from a different angle you might get a better visual.

those pipes are probably for a cooler for an automatic. They should not be open if you aren't going to use them. they should have rubber caps. But they usually do not make a difference. It is easier for a manufacturer to make one radiator for both the standard and the automatic. So its just an extra.
I'd also think those tubes are for use on an auto.

So you guys think I should be ok using that in my base prelude? it seems the tubes themselves have some sort of plug on top of them. They don't feel very strong tho....
As others have said, that is for ATF cooling. Just leave them plugged. ATF is supposed to flow through there. Yeah, the plugs that came with the Koyo does look weak. I would actually get a hose and clamp them on to plug them.

Nowadays aftermarket radiators are universal both for a manual and auto. Since you have a manual don’t worry about the pipes. You don’t need to plug them either since you will not have any fluid going through them. Pretend they are not there.

i think he may be talking about the studs/ pipes for the automatic equipped prelude. alot of radiators like that have the extra tank and fittings for an auto. but it will work on a 5spd...
i just ordered the 100% aluminum radiator for my 4th gen and its from Koyo also. the whole thing is aluminum unlike that one with the black tanks...
I prefer the fully aluminum one but of course it cost me 340 shipped and most people cant afford it but i decided to just blow my paycheck on it. lol...
