since you are new, i'll just let ya know, that there is an essential prelude FAQ FAQ FAQ - near the top of all these topics - you will find a lot of your statistical info there. as for a year recommendation in your range i would shoot for a 93 - 95 vtec - reason i say that is because in 92 there wasn't a vtec, and in 96 it went to OBD2. but really they are allllll golden years (;

best of luck welcome to the site, make use of the search function (at top right in red) and read the info in the faq's and you'll be even the veterans best friend.

'95 is the best year. '96 is the worst

yeah as far as the vtec models and pure stock performance the order goes 95, 93, 94, 96

as far as interior 94-96 is best

basically the 96 is least prefered because it's obd2 and i think there were some problems with some of the 94's that they fixed after that and weren't an issue before.

if you plan on going turbo i would get the h23 for the torque and lower compression

you need to decide what you want out of the car and plan out your upgrades before hand so you know which car to buy......ie look/performance......if you plan on doing a motor swap or redoing the interior just buy a cheap shell or something with a lot of miles and swap the motor or re-upholster(sp?) the seats with leather or put in racing seats
