Prelude starting difficult, what could this be?
Hello, I have a '94 Prelude with H22 engine, since this week it's giving me some issues starting.
It seems to be completely random when this happens, but a few times now I had that the car would start very difficult with cold engine, once I had to try for about 3 minutes till it would run. The thing is it cranks fine, just takes long for it to actually run.
When it finally runs it does fine, idles perfect and has normal power. So I guess it cannot be the ignition. Maybe it's not getting fuel for some weird reason while starting..
Anymore have a idea what can be causing this? It's really giving me a unreliable feel about the car, something I'm not used to from a Honda!

Is your CEL coming on? and if so have you checked the codes?
Also can you hear your main relay click when you turn the ignition
to the on position, and hear the fuel pump prime the system. If not,
you may need to replace your main relay.
Another thing to check is that all your grounds are tight and making
good contact.

I had that same issue. Only during cold startup, I would have problems. I don't know if you've been running on low fuel lately, but that fixed my problem. My hard starts only happened when I had low fuel meaning at the empty line or lower. Once I had a 1/4 or more of fuel in there, the car would start right up again without any hiccups. I just wanted to share my experience with my hard starts.
I managed to fix my issue a long time ago, if I remember correctly it was resoldering the main relay that did the trick. So that means BlackCatt had it right!
