overheating problem
I have a 1990 honda prelude and I think the head gasket is blown. It blew out white smoke through the tail pipe. The water pump seems to be pumping. I wonder if the thermostat could be bad and not opening to cause the car to over heat and cause the head gasket to blow. If anybody have any info, it would be greatly appreciated.
it would have to overheat for a little while before the headgasket would get messed up. If you're car starts getting too hot, turn it off so you dont warp the head. If it started smoking it sounds very likely that the headgasket is blown
First of all see if u are actually loosing coolant. If you are first check ur radiator, coolant lines and seal around the water pump.
If you find that you are loosing coolant and none of those things are happening. Then you may have a head gasket problem or even worse a cracked head or block. Those are the worst case things though.
Are you overheating ?
