Default New Rim offset

I am looking to get some new rims on my 4th gen lude. I am choosing between some 15x7 rims with a 40+ offset or 16x7 with a 45+ offset. I would prefer the 15" rims, but the 16's have a offset closer to stock. I don't want to adversely affect my handling or stability, or do something that would put extra wear on my suspension. Are any of you 4th genners using rims with a 40+ offset and how did it affect your handling, twitchiness, or tendency to follow cracks in the pavement? What would you choose in this situation and is 40+ still a perfectly acceptable offset?

Thanks
Will

Did it make your car more willing to follow pavement imperfections and bumps? Also would 2mm of offset be the difference between perfection and too far?

Remember, the offset is measured from the centerline of the rim, so when the rim is wider the offset you need to keep the wheel flush changes. Unfortunately I can't tell you what number you need.

You can't find any nice 15x7s with +45 offset?

The majority of 15x7, or even 16x7s seem to all be 40+, though I'm sure I could special order some wheels. I am curious to know what offset people are using with their aftermarket wheels on their Ludes.

Hmmm the more I hear the more I am leaning toward the 15's w/ 40+ offset. My reason for going w/ the 15's has to do with the astounding amount of potholes and minor amount of dirt road (Rally Time! j/k) involved on my drive home. If you have ever been to Petrolia, CA, you know what I'm talking about.

16x7 with +40mm offset here, and it works absoutly perfect while looking sexy as hell. Im running on 205/50/16 BFG G-Force sports, which i also love too

EDIT: Im dropped 1.75 in the front and 1.5 in the rear on Neuspeed Sports and Tokico Illuminas
