Default new here

Hello,

New here and wanted to say "hi". I live in Ames, IA. I like cars in general, and think even Chevy produces one or two decent lines of cars. I bought a 95 Prelude manual with a 2.3 a while back. I don't think it will ever be full race or anything, but I want to do a few upgrades here and there when I have the time and money. Make it into an interesting dd someday, maybe scare a few camaros here and there.

I think I may put a rebuilt head on it. It has around 150K miles and the guy I bought it from didn't know if the timing belt had ever been replaced. Thought it would be a safe move to do both things at once.

What brand of belts(Gates racing?) and head gaskets do you guys recommend. Any favorite part sites since I am kind of new to the Honda realm.

Thanks people!

Kevin

Welcome to HT!
I like to stick with genuine honda parts when I can personally. especially if its just a dd and youre not trying to get huge hp gains for the track.
A good site for genuine honda parts is Majestic Honda: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/

Parts like timing belt and head gasket, those are parts that I would order directly from a honda dealership, they have high quality parts, you might pay 20 bucks more or so then from another place, but its worth it!

I'm new to HT also, only 1 day till I'm a member, woo-hoo!
Anyway, sounds like a nice 'lude, just stick to OEM. The only reason to upgrade gaskets, belts, etc. is if there will be excessive heat or wear on your engine. But good luck on your dd build.

Yeah ^^.
Like if your gonna turbo or something or have high compression pistons then go with high performance head gasket like a cometic or something.
But Timing belt I would always just go with factory quality oem
