Need help with idle Problem!!!
Hello, I currently own a 98prelude Base. I had a skunk2 intake manifold on it and never seemed to get it to run right. I reverted back to the old manifold and now am having even more problems than before.
When i first start the engine, it revs up to about 5200 rpm and then comes down to about 900....it then makes a backfiring sound (from under the hood) that sounds alot like a lawnmower starting up, then it revs back up to 5200 rpm again. It is just a viscious cycle that keeps going on. I have checked all the connection and i am pretty sure they are all connected and tightened down. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
~Wes

my guess in this situation is to check all of your vaccum lines...Sounds like you have a hellatious vaccum leak. Try to find a vaccum diagram and run them all down. You could be leaking around the intake manifold gasket as well. You can take a can of ether(or any kind of gasous product) and spray it on the intake, if it makes your rpms raise when you do that, then it is sucking in that gas. So check that out then let us know. Also check that all sensors are hooked up correctly, like the TPS, etc.
