Default modified distributors???

I need help modifying a distributor. Has anyone got experience in doing so? So far Ive replaced the ignitor but have question about what wires get xfered over.

The old distributor is one from a 94 accord which has an external coil.
The new one id from a H23 that has an internal coil

There is an extra plug on the Accord distributor which I believe is going to be for the external coil. Can I use the internal coil distributor and modify my Accord Wire harness?

Please any info is much appreciated.

I have to wait til I get home tonight to do that but so far the only wire that the accord distributor has that the Prelude distributor doesnt is a green wire going to the Accord harness. The ignitor if I can remember has 4 prongs and the Prelude distributor only has 3 connectors.
So my theory was the 4th wire which is green needs to somehow be hooked up to the internal coil??? Not sure where or how.
On my lunch I'm going to go buy a sodder(sp) iron and all the tubing to neatly splice the wires and reconnect them. And get to work tonight.

Just curious, where did you get an H23 dizzy that has an internal coil? Maybe one from a JDM H22 swap or something?

Turns out it was an B18 LS distributor. Went to Auto Zone on my lunch and had the parts guy searching for a Cap with internal coil located in the right spot. Getting fustrated right about now. The plug to the wire harness is the same but missing a wire so it should hook up but do you know if this will work? I think since the accord on is a single cam and the H23 is dual cam thats why the accord one wouldn't work.

I dont know maybe it's just wishful thinking but I feel like this is going nowhere.

My freind had a external coil on his non vtec accord. When we did the sohc vtec swap into his car we had to cut like two wires if i remember right, and wire them to the internal dizzy. Im not sure but i think they were yellow and blue.

I believe thats the colors on mine.

Here's my theory the H23 and the B18B share a few common traits they are both Honda's and we all know Honda's are like LEGO's they both are non VTEC, the connector to the wire harness is the same minus one wire which is a coil wire, and the last both have the same bolt pattern for the Distributor.

So if that's the case, and all the wires are the same minus on on the LS (B18) distributor harness. The fact that the main difference is in Coil location this could work.

I'm guessing yes and I will find out at least by tomorrow. I hope.

Check voltages and you will figure out what wires need to be wired together thats all we did. When we did are swap we were stumped for a day with no spark.

Whay would you want to use a smaller less powerful internal coil? What could you hope to gain from this. Not to mention the internal coils have more heat in them and like engines electronics donot like to be hot if it can be helped. i don't see the point.

Well for starters the distributor I got (free) was off a B18 and will bolt right up. Until I can find a H23 one for very cheap I need to make it work. I still plan to run an external coil but in the process of changing the ignitor from my distributor housing to the B18 housing, I wanted to be sure the wires didnt get mixed up.
