Which LuDe, DuDe ?
So here it is... I have two options and both are for a 94 or 95 Prelude.
1. For $8k or so I get a Prelude Si. Then later get a VTEC head.
or
2. For $10k or so I get a Prelude VTEC.
The prices are higher than usual because my dad is buying me this car and he only buys from dealers, but I don't mind cuz im not paying.
The only thing is that with Option #1 I can get it soon but with Option #2 I will have to wait a bit, because of how rare vtec ludes are(ones in good condition). I have already got 8 dealers looking for the vtec lude but i think it's gonna take some time, however I don't mind waiting for the vtec(leather baby! hehe j/k) Please give me your suggestions.
BTW, If I get the Si for less and save money by not getting the vtec one, the money saved will not be for me to spend. hehe, darn.
Thanks,

If you get the SI, you will be disappointed with your decision--but that depends on what you're wanting. If you want a good quick stock car, get the VTEC. My friend just purchased a 94 Del Sol VTEC, and he's glad he did, because he knows he would have regretted getting the SOHC Del SLOW. Plus rarer cars are always good in my book
Just don't settle for less because it's cheaper is all I'm saying, do it right the first time.

I agree, however there is a difference between Del Sol SOHC and the Prelude Si(160HP) which is DOHC. And the Si is fast, my friend has one and it flies (stock). How much faster is the vtec lude than the Si?

A lot quicker...I believe Jonesy69 on this board ran a 14.8 STOCK with his Prelude. It's in his sig--4th gen Prelude VTEC's are the fastest generation of Preludes.
Edit: Stock for stock, when I first bought my 5th gen, my buddy wanted to run his 96 Si with mine...he couldn't keep up after 3 different runs, if that tells you anything--but it's a driver's game I suppose, as most would tell you...

Well, thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll go with vtec lude, but the wait! ahh! i thought i could do it, but i wanna get my hand on the stick, soo fun on my friend's Si(manual) and he's gettin a new clutch so it must be better. got any advice on how to find a 94 or 95 vtec lude sooner than waiting for dealers to call me up ?

just get the vtec. i have an Si and its a GREAT motor, dont get me wrong. but if you wanna go all motor go h22a. dont even try doing a h23a/h22 hybrid, youll regret it and end up with an unreliable car.
go for the vtec lude..... a the h22/h23 bottom end combo doesn't come out good without lots of modification from what i've read from people who have tried..... IMO for daily driving vtec is great..... 1/2 the fun is having SOMETHING kick in =P
both ar egreat cars. my suggestion to you is to decide what you want to do with the car after you get it. how fast you want to go and how much money you want to spend. VTEC isn't everything... you can always slap on a turbo on the Si instead of converting it to VTEC using H22 head and stuff.
it will be faster than the VTEC lude for sure. not a bad idea...

Easy buy mine for $17k. It already has AEM fuel rail, fpr, full MSD ignition, Greddy exhaust, intake, and an NOS direct port kit. Not to mention the JDM whoring 96 ITR rims.
are you joking or are you serious about that price?

I'm serious as hell. If anyone is insane enough to pay that much for my car, I'll sell it to them. I've always wanted a boosted LS.

but why an LS? boost the prelude!

I wouldn't have to mess around with tuning the fuel and VTEC at the same time. I just put down 217whp and 202trq with a 75 shot though. I'd probably drop an H22 into the LS and then spray the **** out of it. I'm getting addicted to it.

I'd rather have a turbo Prelude SI than a Prelude VTEC. But you'll be glad you got a VTEC Prelude if you are keepin things NA. Insurance is a bitch on VTEC Preludes btw..
CRX+H22+Teins=road/strip beast
however, it would be fast as hell straight line. not good for street though. my friend has one it's not all that driveable. it's a pain.
CRX+B18C5=the ****
id buy a 93 Mustang 5.0 LX....drop some 4.10's....a nice catback, off-road h-pipe, have about 250hp to the crank, and run low 14's.!
