lowering spring and stock struts
No, putting lowering springs on stock struts is a bad idea. Use aftermarket struts like the following.
K-Sport Kontrols are good. There are also teins, koni, and tokico as well.

All lowering springs made for the 5th gen are designed for the Base. Using lowering springs on stock shocks is never a good idea as they'll be very underdamped, but they'll wear SH shocks even faster since the SH's are longer than the Base.
Been there, done that. Its not a good idea. The shocks will blow super quick and the ride will be very bouncy and will handle worse than stock.

i'm lowered on skunk2 springs on stock shocks and I wouldn't do it again if i could.
Depending how many miles and what condition ur struts are in, a mild drop should be alright but is definately not recomended.
I would do it right the first time and just wait till you get new shocks/struts, then put the springs on those, then u can install it as an assembly, instead of taking the old spring off, and putting the new spring on.
Bad shocks can lead to height and alignment issues
Oh ya....SH suspension is a whole different world than the base 5th gen. When u see springs for the 97+ prelude, it should either say, "SH model", or "except SH"

Neuspeed makes them for the SH. Im running them now. Ive had them on for probably about 2 years + and just recently are they beginning go. I know a few people personally that have had lowering springs for a few years and no issues. But i think the shocks life is def compromised, maybe not as much as people lead you to believe, but it is.

Agree completely, best setup for the money.
but yes you can run lowering springs on stock sturts, you just won't see the full potential from the springs and it shortens the life of the struts.

Ive used TEIN S-techs on stock struts for over 4 yrs and it still rides nice. If you're on a budget, TEIN S-techs are a good buy for stock struts.
Since then, I have put over 65K miles and no issues what so ever...
Good luck!
