kyb agx shocks...
what would be a good setting to put it at, i have a 1.5in. drop if that matters at all. i want it to be stiff, but at a safe setting. can you guys recommend a setting for both front and rear. gracias. and i would like to see a pic of them if any of you have any, thanks
I used to have 2f/4r, but it really depends on what you have. Why take someone elses advice when you can just judge for yourself with a little trial and error?
First of all great choice with the shock setup. As you probably know I think you're right a the KYB lower limit before the warrenty is void. So be cautious with them (i.e. don't set them stiff and go over a series of bumps.) I occationally drive around with my setting at 4 (stiffy). Honestly I've never played around with them to find an equilibrium pt. Maybe at this sunday's auto-x I set the front stiff and the rear less stiff.
Ask corey (the infamous mod) he can help you with suspension stuff, just don't be a noobie.

okay, welli dont have them yet. how do you change he settings? is it really as easy as people say it is? and how much different settings are there, i heard that it was 8 in back and 4 in front. thanks
On mine...there are only 4 settings both front and back..
You guys are talking about KYB's right??
For daily driving I set 3 front 3 back..@ is too soft for me, I like to drive like an ***.

i have agx/prokit combo.
during this 24hr auto-x event i attended 6 months ago, i was able to play around with the settings as i was able to run 10+ times. i tried every possible combos.
for auto-x / spirited driving... i use 3F and 4R (i think for all prelude applications.. they are 4-way adj not 8) the rear kicks out slightly during turns and it's very manageable. i love it.
for highway driving... 1F 1R for that smoothness(although it's still stiffer than stocks ones)

How you set them isn't as dependent on the ride height as it is on the spring rate . . . . For summer driving on my H&R sports, 2 all around is just about the right amount of damping for street driving, and 3 all around if I know the roads I'm going to be on are somewhat forgiving. I don't find I need to set the rear's any stiffer than the front to maintain a fairly neutral handling demeanor.
It's worth noting, they're very temperature dependent. Once it gets to be about 30 or 40 degrees, they feel as if they're set a notch or two stiffer than they really are. Below 0 degrees, you'll swear they're set at about 9. On a real hot summer day (100+), I can set them to max stiffness & ride around in relative comfort.
Of course, all of the above is subjective, and skewed by bushing & spring compliance at different temperatures.
