I haven't seen much on the differences of the JDM and the USDM last generation preludes. I was just wondering what the differences were both in the engine, and cosmetically. I've never seen "JDM headlights" for the 97-01 so i've been wondering.

 

headlights/tail lights are all the same. There are different side skirts, a Type S wing thats half way between a type r and the current type SH wing. Also interior differences such as optional Nav, leather, red on black, the ususal super cool JDM goodies that us honda junkies could only dream of.

 

Better cup holders! I cant fathom why they didnt think we were worthy enough for those.

 

As far as engines go, the 2 major differances is that the JDM block is a closed deck where the USDM is open. The JDM also had 10.6:1 ratio where the USDM has 10.1:1

 

JDM 5th preludes have rear ashtray, fog lights, red valve cover, C/f bezel, front strut bar, side markers on fender rather than front bumper, different intake, red emblems, different pistons, PRELUDE door sils, different cams. and USDM don't have these items. that's all I can name off the top of my head.

JDM Base 10.6:1
USDM 10.0:1

JDM/USDM 4th gen motors - Closed Deck
JDM/USDM 5th gen motors - Open Deck

Doesn't the type S have LSD also, or was it ATTS?

Prelude Si-VTEC w/ M2A4 Open
Prelude Si-VTEC w/ M2B4 LSD (option - not swappable w/ aftermarket)

5th gen
Prelude SiR w/ M2Y4 (or equivalent) Open
Prelude SiR S-SPec w/ M2Z4 LSD (swappable with aftermarket)
Prelude Type-S w/M2U4 (or equivalent) ATTS
