instead of an intake, is it safe to just put a huge air filter where your intake would go? or do you get too much dirt and crap from the engine in there. wouldnt that increase torque?

 

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. I've seen people put a cone filter where their stock filter box went. And just use the stock tube. As far as it being safe... as long as there is a filter on there it should prevent dirt and other junk in there. As far as increasing torque... it might a little bit... but prob nothing you would notice.. I don't know any numbers though.

 

that would be some really hot air you would be putting into your engine.

Besides (not you shakes, the original poster) your sig says AEM cai, why would you bother switching that.

 

i did this once. deffinate drop in performance. dont know if its the fact that the air is really hot..or theres no room for the air to accelerate like it does in an intake tube..and vtec didnt sound the same.

how do you figure, there is no more intake, all there is is a filter. therefore it takes less time to get air into the engine......
