Default ignition problem?

My 4th gen H23 seems to have an ignition problem. When it sits the idle bounces around. It drops to 400 and feels as if its gonna stall out and then it'll jump to about 900. When I put it in revers or am drivin slow in 1st gear it seems like its gonna stall out. It feels like its lost power at lower rpm and in first gear. Is this ignition or do I have bigger problems?

Clean your EGR valve. Search for it, you will find MANY threads on it. Its time consuming, make sure and replace the gasket when you get finished. That is my insight on it. Any other opinions? Top off your coolant, and bleed the air, that could cause it also. Is you CEL on?

hmmmi had the same problems...all u need is to tune your h23. or it also can be that your timing is off (distributor)
if not then take it to a shop that can plugg in a computer to your cars Ecu.
