Default Igniter/ECU

Car completley died on me. Checked for spark adn it has none. I took a look at my ECU (I just had a fealing) and it had short circuited. Traced the problem from a wire on the distributor and it led to the part of the ecu that had shorted. My question is coud a bad igniter have done this? Also my positive terminal on my battery was loose. Could this have caused the ECU to short? Ordered a new ECU but do not want to have a repeat of the same poblem. What do I do?

I doubt it. do you have all the proper fuses? check fuses. and don't ever install a higher amperage fuse.

the ecu shouldn't blow if you have correct amperage.

Fuses are all good, followed the Chilton manuel on all the trouble shooting for the ignition system, but everything seemed to be working fine.
