identifying h22
sorry if there is already a thread on this, but i couldn't find it using the search engine nor was it in the FAQ ... but does anyone have a guide or something for identifying the vin numbers on different H series motors ... i.e. prelude type-s ... prelude sir ... prelude sir s-spec ... ect ... thanks in advance
thx! hey these are for jdm spec chassis/engines/ect. only? ... so say if i was trying to identify a h22A out of a prelude sir s-spec ... the block would say 1280000 right? ... i forget which digits identify the production number?
also there is another sir s-spec on the document 1290000.....
so it could also be 1290000-1299999
my h22a number is 2070863..so it fell under the 2070000 category...
which is an accord sir h22a
yea i noticed there are two sir s-spec ... anyone know if there is a difference? ... diff. or same motor? they have diff. chassis number and engine number ... but they have the same trans.

where are these numbers stamped?
if they are on the right below the H22 stamp, my number is 2004119. According to the .doc, this would mean that my block is from a Accord si-r? If, i am right the cd6 is the chassis which tells me that my motor may be odb2 right since the cd6 chassis are range from 94-97?

Where this document fails is that each production year, the block serial number's first digit usually changes (typically increases by 1).
Example: (this is not accurate, just a freakin example)
1997 JDM Prelude SiR S-Spec - serial 1500000
1998 JDM Prelude SiR S-Spec - serial 2500000
1999 JDM Prelude SiR S-Spec - serial 3500000
2000 JDM Prelude SiR S-Spec - serial 4500000

1st digit typically signifies production year, typically starting with 1, but first year could start with a 4, or anything else.
2nd digit typically signifies variations between models in the same domestic market or same model but different markets.
3rd digit typically isn't used making it 0, but can also identify the same things as the 1st or 2nd digit.
4th through 7th digits are the actual unit number, starting at 0001, not 0000.

so i guess it'd be safe to assume that the numbers listed on that chart can be identified as the initial engine number for that motor on its first year of production. Afterwards, the 1st digit and the last 4 would be the variants?
Not necessarily. Some engines change the 2nd digit as the year of production changes. Some engines change the 3rd digit as the year of production changes.
I'm actually working right now to fix the chart and add other markets, so you can see a better example.
