how hard would it be...
if i were to get all the parts that didnt need to be custom fabricated together, how hard would it be to put a k24 in a 4g prelude? any thoughts as to particularly difficult tasks? i already know that it spins the other way, but it would mount the other way too so it doesnt matter. either way, what do you guys think?
it would be a pain in the ***, you could make some custom mounts without too much difficulty, but then you'll also have to get some custom length axles and make them fit in the stock cv joints unless the K-series are the same size, not only that but you'll also have to redesign your shift linkage and shorten it most likely and swap over the ECUs. I'm pretty sure there aren't any conversion hardnesses so you'll most likely have to hack up your stock harnesses and wire them together and probably add some more wires for extra K-seires components, I'm not doubting it can be done, but it sure will be a hell of alot of work so you better be good at fabricating or have lots of $$
Well, lets make a list of the things I can think of off the top of my head....
Engine mounts/engine bay. Look at newer Hondas. Not only is the engine flipped, but it is also on the other side of the bay (the transmission has also switched sides).
Accesories have to be removed, shift linkage has to be straight custom, and engine mounts will have to be all custom as well.
Returnless fuel system? Gonna have to figure that one out chief.
Price of a K-Series block? Not even worth it yet.
Power gain out of a N/A K24? Even less worth it. Drive my sister's Accord. Let me tell you, it's a road warrior.
The difficulty of this project: Somwhere between growing chia pets on the moon and assembling a lego castle through a chain-link fence... with chopsticks.
