How to get started??????
Hey guys, I need some help. I bought a 92 honda prelude from a guy a while back and the car had a blown head gasket. He didn't have much time to fool with the car, so I bought it from him. Naturally, I wanted to find a swap, so I put in the stock h23 with auto tranny in the car. I flushed the heater core and hoses out, I cleaned the firewall, frame, etc so the install would go smoother. I bought a new timing belt, tensioner, water pump, seals, plugs, plug wires, cap, and everything else I needed. I guess the car is cold-natured because when I crank her up in the morning, she idles high. I have no more power steering because there is a leak somewhere. I removed my cruise control.
- Should I use Lucas Oil Stabilizer with my engine oil?
- What about the tranny?
- What kind of coolant should I run?
- Im lost with this car?
-Any help is appreciated.
-Thanks

Does your Idle bounce when the car is cold or it's just high? Is should go back to normal after it gets hot.
Any mixture of 50/50 water or coolant would be good
I don't see the point on using oil stabilizer, how does the engine run?

if its cold its ok for it start slighty high like 1500-2000rpm but after warming up it should drop to about 600-800rpm. or if it is bouncing check to see if the tb is dirty i had that issue with mine tb. check to make sure the butterfly isn't dirty and the spring that inside isn't sticking cause its dirty.
Re: Coolant. I only use Honda coolant and highly recommend it. Its not expensive and i dont want to run the risk of getting any corrosion like i had in my 2nd gen, which a previous owner had let run on a 50% water / 50% aftermarket coolant mix (and i suspect sometimes just water alone). Last time i picked up coolant from honda i found you no longer need to mix it with water, it comes ready to go. My 4th gen was serviced by honda until i was lucky enough to buy it, and the cooling system is in great condition considering the engine has 290,000 Km on it.
