How to correct speedometer.
First post, w00t! I need to re-correct my speedometer after installing 215-40-R17 tires. Bought the this 00 Base with 245-45-R18 wheels installed and someone had adjusted the speedometer for that size. I have access to a SnapOn professional scan tool if that will work? Thanks, Wj
I believe the only way is if they installed a speedo healer. like they do on motorcycles. I would search the wiring and behind the gauge cluster for the box.
how did the original owner adjust the speedo? as far as I know, there's no way to do it without cracking open the speedo itself or using what kulrevonsuggested...

haha, do you have pics of the car with 245/45-18 tires? thats like a 27" diameter tire vs. the oem size of 24". Would love to see how funny that looked.

Yeah, I will try to get some pics up. It had Konig 18x8 with +40 offset and they rubbed on the slightest bump or curve. Only had it a couple of weeks but it bout drove me crazy! Purchased new WedsSport TC005 17x7.5 +48 offset in white to replace them. They fit good but could have gone with a 225-45-17 to fill the fenderwell alittle better. I was hoping that the speed sensor or ecu could be reprogrammed for the new speed like some other vehicals. Thanks, Wj
I think the guy that said the speedo was adjusted is full of ****, but check for the speedo healer and see if the gauge cluster has been tampered with.
215/40/17 won't have noticeable error until you get over 70 mph, and even then it's only a few off. No need to adjust for that tire size (it's also the best all around size for a 17x7.5" rim on a Prelude so you made a good choice).
