My hood latch cable broke right by the latch and i can't figure out a way to open it, any suggestions?

 

Get under the front of the car and shine a light up to the latch. Use some tools and pop it open from down there.

 

yah, what hawk said. i had the same problem once. i dont recall using any tools. just use your hand to activate the latch manually.

 

Got it open, i took the hood latch assembly apart and got it open.

 

the hood on my 01 prelude wont open cause the cord broke. I am trying to open it with my hand through the grill but i cannot seem to find exactly where to pull and or push. I can get my hand to the hood release but that doesnt help since the hood is all the way closed....can anyone help!!!

 

Its pretty difficult to do. Is there any cable still attached to the latch? If there is just tug on that. If not you might have to take off you bumper to get to it.

 

the problem is i think the cord came unattached from the latch itself inside the assembly. I think if i had a picture of the assembly i could find where i need to pull with my hands to get it open. I just am not sure what the assembly looks like so i am approaching this blind...

 

Here's a 4th gen hood latch I had lying around. The 5th gen should be very similar. The yellow arrow points to where the cable attaches and that's what you want to pull...
