Hole in my condensor
I just found out that i have a hole in my condensor. My mechanic said that it will cost 250 to change it with labor. What i was wondering if there is any way to repair an aluminum radiator. Maybe welding it? If so how much would a job like this cost.
On mythbusters they put an uncooked egg in the radiator and it actully stopped leaks from holes. I dont know how it would work in the long run though.
On a serious note you might be able to get one used and do it yourself, or just pay the guy to do it, $250 doesn't sount that bad.

Lol, I saw the same thing on McGyver years ago. But it does work.....for the extremely short term.
Do it right and replace it. Either cough up the $250 or find one and do it yourself....it'll be a lot cheaper all-in-all when you're done.

I honestly wouldn't chance it. If it turns out to be a **** job, then you have to pay for both the jimmy-rigging you tried and the cost of the job to do it right.
That aluminum is extruded pipe = thin. Welding it, in my opinion would either make it porous around the weld area or the material would clog up the inside and block the whole thing off all together. Either way would not be a happy situation for you or your wallet.
