HelP! AEM Cold Air Intake Installation
I'm sure someone has and AEM cold air intake for their 5th gen Prelude and can someone tell if the hole that leads to the resonator really needs to be enlarged so the pipe and filter fits? And if its bad to have an intake during rainy season because the filter is located under the fender wheel? I know there's a shield guard underneath but does that still leave a possibility of the filter sucking in water? And can someone possibly tell me if any problems they had with an AEM intake?
Cut the whole bigger and yes, it will suck in water and cause hydrolock if you don't have a bypass. There's 4 million threads on this topic already so just use the search button in the upper right corner for tons more info.
*Napoleon Dynamite Voice* Sorry, gooosssshhh. I did try doing a search but I ended up with 0 search results. But thanks a bunch for answering my question.

2 years for me driving in heavy rain always.
But, if you're going through a puddle, just put your foot on the clutch and let off the gas - can't suck something in when the throttle plate is closed.

exactly!
all this crap about if you don't have bypass you will hydrolock is rubbish.
If you want to drive your car like it's a submarine then you will need it, along with many other modifications such as a periscope.

I've had my CAI for about 3 years now, and no problems driving through the rain. As a matter of fact, I was driving through the rain last night and made it home just fine. I just leave my car in a low gear to keep the rpms up...

I know it doesn't happen very often, but I've read enough "I hydrolocked my motor!!!!!!!" threads to know it's a least 1 in 100 people that it happens to. Short ram intake FTW!!11!
The by-pass valve significantly reduces the benefits of a COLD AIR intake, specifically the whole little part about taking in cold air(The By-pass is right in the engine bay, sucking in hot air...)
